LAST SONGS FROM FUTURE SELVES

So tomorrow is the first day of the FUTURE SELVES online release.  In order to keep you all informed before the tidal wave swallows the shore, we impart to you the LAST SONGS FROM THE RECORD.

The first of the last is a fragile number that took it's place on the record.  We weren't really sure where that place was but it founds it's spot as the album started to take shape and needed a short breath.

Note the intro.  Reverse horns wound up sounding like an accordion.  Sometimes accidents breed discovery in the recording studio.

LIKE A FUNERAL

THE POSSUM is the first song that we wrote for this record.  It wound up being recorded and was considered to be first song on the album for a moment.  I think we may have been excited because it was the first one finished but it turned out much better settled as a deep cut and one of the closing tracks on the album.

THE POSSUM

Finally we give you the last song from FUTURE SELVES.  Oddly enough it has a root in the past.  This was the only tune in this collection that was recorded to 2" tape.  Analogue is such warm medium and we really thought that this one lended itself to that vibe and tonality.  It's inspired by pride and abandonment.

And so, dear friends, this concludes the final installment of FUTURE SELVES.  Thank you for your interest in our preview and we hope that once yours is nestled within your music catalog, you visit often.  I've always said that it's not really fast food but more rotisserie gold so it might take a minute but is definitely worth the wait!
