THREE SONGS FROM FUTURE SELVES

So now we must give you a flurry of a preview...

Since there are only 5 days that remain to count down the Album Release Show and only two days from the online release, we must bring our family the songs first.  A little special treatment for the ones who have tuned in early.

The first of three that we impart to you, has been an exercise of experimentation.  This song was inspired by long trips in our van, shuffling through the collection of blues and soul music that we all had a common appreciation for and never spoke of.  It was somewhat of a discovery of common appreciation and a collective agreement that there is something about soul in music that you can't describe in words.  It must be imparted as feeling.  Stay tuned for the video for this one...(It's about impending demise).

GET SOME REST

WAKE TO SLEEP was a contribution from the cracks in Card's brain.  The lyric explores that space between reality and lucid dreams that one can rarely distinguish while under its spell.  I remember seeing a figure in my room as a young boy and then coming to and it being gone.  I was confused as to whether it was a figment of my imagination or an apparition.  "I was a lonely boy.  Asleep, unhinged my mind would run".  As I discovered through reading about sleep paralysis, it is very common that one may remember a space between conscious and unconsciousness quite vividly.  I think I took comfort in this idea.  Also because ghosts scared the shit out of me when I was a lad.  It's our pirate chantey...check it out.  (contributions from the San Diego Symphony Orchestra makes this one live in our hearts).

WAKE TO SLEEP

Finally, we bring you ENOJADO (eh-no-hatho) for all you yokels.  :)  just kidding.  It means ANGRY in Spanish.  We wrote this song when we were frustrated with eachother in the recording studio.  Seems like an odd confession to let you all in on the interpersonal communication of the band, but when you work together day in and day out on a collective project, especially one that is collaboratively emotive in its creative process, it's hard to avoid head butts once in awhile.  We all sat down, (pissed off), and came up with this little gem.  We were going to call it 'Song We Wrote When Mad at Eachother' but there wasn't enough room on the album art, so we settled with angry in Spanish.

ENOJADO
